Fig. 01 — Photographic project
Fara Filiorum Petri, Italy
In Fara Filiorum Petri the night is built by hand. Before anything burns, the Farchie are raised in the town: tall constructions of reeds, carried and set in place by the people who have made them.
The fire belongs to the eve of Saint Anthony. It is not an effect added afterwards. It is the reason the town gathers, and the reason the photographs exist.
Le Farchie follows that labour and that burning. The weight of a torch. The closeness of the crowd. The moment a structure becomes light.
What remains is a town returned to itself. The photograph keeps the passage between the work of building and the hour the flame takes over.
